ViolencePosted on 2002/03/14 18:40:07 (March 2002) by john. Would everybody please stop killing each other?
I'm getting so tired of hearing about violence on the news all the time. What is up with the world? It really is a very simple concept - you don't have to go around killing people to have a fulfilling life. Come on the world, let's sort it out - it isn't difficult. Going out and being violent requires some effort. For everyone to just stay in and not be violent wouldn't require any effort. Therefore, there's no excuse. And don't give me any of that "but he started it" nonsense. Just stop bloody well fighting.
There's just no justification for killing. Broadly speaking most disputes are either territorial or religous. Right, well to deal with the territorial, how can any human being possibly own a piece of land, a chunk of rock that has been around millions of years longer than they have...? So in turn, what right does any human being have to tell any other where they can or can't live? To deal with the religous bit then. OK so here's all the world's religions, and they're all more or less the bloody same, and where they do differ in silly little ways you can't prove that you're right and he's wrong anyway. Shooting at each other certainly isn't going to solve any theological debates. It really ought to be possible to just truncate all of the Bible, the Koran, the Torah, the Shak'ti and everything else to just one sentence - Just be nice to each other, for god's sake. Oh, and especially, please don't try to kill each other. OK, that is two sentences, but to me not killing people is somewhat implicit in being nice to them. Maybe for other people that needs spelling out a bit. If there actually is a god somewhere he or she is probably mightily pissed off by now that we're all making such a bloody mess of everything, supposedly on his or her behalf.
There has never, ever, ever been a single situation where violence has been the best answer to a problem. Neither will there ever be. There are no exceptions to this rule, so just bloody well stop it, OK?

It's all gone a bit wrong at the moment hasn't it. It seems like everyone 'really hates' everyone else. People are worried about what might happen next and seem to be devoting all of their time to ways of preventing it coming about; by killing the other bastards first. The whole Pre-Emptive Strike issues that've been highlighted in the news recently are doing nothing to promote peace. Seriously, would you sit around and wait for someone to 'come round to your house' knowing full well that their intention was to give you a good slapping? I certainly wouldn't. Especially if I happened to have a couple of 'weapons of mass destruction' lying around in my back garden...
As for the whole religious thing. Well, I find your comments highly offensive and have issued a holy writ demanding your immediate slaughter...

well ill have to disagree. as long as there are people in this world there will be hostilities towards each other and that will escalate into violent exchanging of words and ultimatly fight and kill each other. and theres no talking sense into teses bluttering idiots because u my be able to solve a dispute one day but the next day everyone will start fighting again. of coarse you think that u can always stop the violence but i wont work cause u can be there 24 7. but i have to admit that war is necessary when talking doesnt work. and u cant say that war doesnt solve anything because look at ww2. nazi germany and hitler attack and invade and american and her allies stop them. now look at grmany a respectable nation and a good ally. even the revolutionary war gained us ourfreedom and then 1812 came and we still fought the british back now look at britain they are a very good friend and ally of america. im talking to much
