Jon EllisPosted on 2002/11/12 09:45:30 (November 2002) by john. Ellis, Ellis, where the hell is Ellis?
What has happened to Jon Ellis? Does anyone have any idea? It seems like he's disappeared off the face of the earth. Does he not love us any more? It's at times like this when songs express what you're trying to say so much better than words. Let me borrow from perhaps the greatest song writing team the world has ever seen - Take That.
I guess now it's time for me to give up
I feel it's time
Got a picture of you beside me
Got your lipstick mark still on your coffee cup
Got a fist of pure emotion
Got a head of shattered dreams
Gotta leave it, gotta leave it all behind now
Whatever I said, whatever I did, I didn't mean it
I just want you back for good
Whenever I'm wrong just tell me the song and I'll sing it
You'll be right and understood
Unaware but underlined I figured out the story
It wasn't good
But in the corner of my mind I celebrated glory
But that was not to be
In the twist of separation you excelled at being free
Can't you find a little room inside for me
Whatever I said, whatever I did, I didn't mean it
I just want you back for good
Whenever I'm wrong just tell me the song and I'll sing it
You'll be right and understood
And we'll be together, this time is forever
We'll be fighting and forever we will be
So complete in our love
We will never be uncovered again

I shed a few tears when I read this John. Beautiful. Really beautiful.

Apparently, this song was originally written about the troublesome relationship between a pork butcher and a pig - "I want your back for food". Very touching.

Nice John. But I think it's a little worrying that you found said lyrics and then posted them for us all to laugh at you with. It is scarey, frankly.

I do sometimes wonder if it might be worthwhile developing a sense of humour that is more compatible with the rest of the world... Hmmm...

Yes, you are the BeOS of the humour world.

Perhaps we could lure Mr. Ellis back to the site with a trail of shiny new cheese graters and clean chopping boards...?

This reminds me of a humorous story. A friend of mine had the worst date of all time (not the date, as in the person, but as in the evening). He asked me to burn a CD containing the most suicidal music I could find so he could kill himself. He also asked that it contain a lot of 80s music as he knows I'm fond of it. (He was joking about killing himself, of course). I decided to end the CD with The Cure's "There is No If"--as I believe it's the saddest song of all time. Any others that come to mind?

Hello. I am currently living in Cheltenham with mummy and daddy and I *know* that I suck arse for not getting in touch, but really, you're all gay, so I haven't.

It's a fair cop, but society is to blame.

Travis - I remember being in the car with Tim (and Jon Ellis as it happens) on the way back from a random trip to Portsmouth I think. Anyway, Jon had put a tape on, it was Portishead's first album (Dummy) and towards the end, at the start of one song, Tim said "Oh, this is that really depressing one isn't it?". No Tim, that's the entire album you're thinking about there. To be fair, I love Portishead, and it's probably more accurate to call their music "moody" rather than depressing. Not sure if they were ever very big in the US. They seem to have disappeared over here.

Probably because she did all her vocals by mail. Nice to hear from you Ellis, you moron.

Actually. It wasn't Ellis. It was me in an attempt to bait him out through misrepresentation. (for those without access to the server IP logs...)

Do you often impersonate Eliisboy? That would be very odd indeed!

Comment 14
Quite convincing though Tom! The widespread accusation of being gay was very Ellis-matic. I think you have a talent for ASCII impersonation... Go on, do me. Please!

Here's Rob:
I totally disagree with whatever you just said!

Perhaps I should really stop trying to imitate Rob. It's really just too easy! Although I'd find it slightly diconcerting to wake up ginger hair. Unless of course Chie were to dye hers ginger. Carrots, on the other hand are great. And they're also orange. Perhaps I should rant about something now?

Comment 22
Awwww... I was hoping Rob was going to respond to my imitation of him with "I absolutely don't disagree with everything you say! .... Doh!".
