My Dad's FriendPosted on 2002/12/01 16:55:37 (December 2002) by john. In a cassock, on the telly!
I was watching Have I Got News For You last night, and noticed there's a picture of my Dad's friend in the backdrop behind where Ian Hislop sits. I took a grab, here it is:
I guess he's there because of him becoming the next Archbishop of Canterbury, rather than being my Dad's friend. Here's a picture I took of my Dad and Rowan, the Archbishop (my Dad being the slightly less bishopy looking one of the two):
It was over a year ago when I first met him, and at the point the whole Archbishop of Canterbury thing was only just a vague rumour. So it seems a bit weird to see a bloke who was introduced to me as my Dad's friend now so ubiqutous in the media. The world can be a funny place at times I suppose!

My sister was on kids telly advertising 'Life of Mammals', which is very good, aparently, although I have not had a chance to watch any of it. No doubt the family matriarch will force viewing of it.

I've watched some of that programme - but haven't seen your sister advertising it. Does she work on it? Does she get to meet 'our David? Tell her from me it is very good indeed.

Yes, she's on the credits as Alexandra Griffiths. She is a researcher on it.

Do you mean Imagine? I think my Dad really likes it too. Isn't the world just full of irony?!

Actually maybe it was my Mum that really likes John Lennon - my Dad is more of a Bob Dylan fan I think... Oh well, whatever, I'm sure there's still some irony somewhere.

-- In what may be the first subpoena of its kind in decades, a federal judge has ordered a university to turn over records about a gathering of anti-war activists.
