Plagiarism InquiryPosted on 2003/04/15 24:35:04 (April 2003) by john. Still, as they say, plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery, or whatever it was...
Thanks to Russ for pointing this out - it looks like my phonebox photograph has been ripped off, and with out a mention to me, the struggling artiste. The page in question is here. I'm particularly enjoying the irony that the only image I've ever stamped a copyright notice on is also the only one that's ever (to my knowledge) been stolen. Still, I think there's probably a certain amount of truth in the theory that anything put on the internet is unofficially fair game for a bit of harmless thieving. Seemingly if you type "phonebox" into Google Images it comes up with mine on the first page, so maybe more people than I had originally thought have found it...
Stop press Actually the webmaster has now given me a mention, so all is right with the world again. Thanks!

Did you mail them? The least they could do is put a link back to the author... grrr.
I've been looking into digital watermarking all week but it seems like far too much effort.

The Google images search for "Phonebox" produces page after page of red UK boxes. Surely we're not the only country to have these bloody things? Perhaps we're the only ones sad enough to photograph them. And, yes, I've photographed them too before you ask. I have a nice picture of a snow-covered one in the New Forest. I'd attach a link but don't have html-posting rights on this site. Have you developed a filter for PhotoStudio which produces this colour-on-monochrome image yet John? I gotta admit it is a rather good effect ...

I didn't realise - that wasn't there originally. The webmaster was actually very nice, emailed me, and now it is all sorted out. Lovely!

You could send them a whack for the fact that it tries to download Gator whenever you visit the site though ;)
