Re: doing IP adresses that we were taling about a while ago that were just numbers and no dots a la http://2262896656/~sir98jah/ - apparently squid eats them, as does having a NATted connection to the net or whatever.

PS. Ryan, if yr listening, what's the address of that alex kidd game for wap fones?

PArdon me, while I burst into flame.
I've had enough of the world.
And it's people's mindless games!
So pardon me while a burn and rise above the flames.
Pardon me, Pardon me. I'll never be the same.

Ideally the server's response to a root request.

Yeah, it uses WML and WMLScript for the logic, with some simple Perl to save scores to disk etc etc ...
I want to get Alex Kidd onto every single obscure format there is ... I wonder if there is a development environment for the "Wonder Swan"?

Cold Infront of Computer, - Tuesday, March 28, 2000 at 09:07:46 (BST)

I must bow down to Ryan - nuff respect for getting alex kidd going on WAP. I've got a 7110. How did you do alex kidd working - did you use server side processing type stuff (CGI or whatever) or wml spooky scripting (whatever it's called)?
graf <graf@graf.org>
- Monday, March 27, 2000 at 13:54:59 (BST)

I've done some WAP development Andy if you need any help. Got my Alex Kidd Janken game going. What phone you using?? I think the max limit for any single deck on the 7110 is 1.4k, so Alex Kidd looks shite on that one (keep getting "connecting to service" logo popping up when trying to do large anims) ... So many sleepless nights.

Was dying to make a post saying - i am writing this from my WAP fone. But i can't work out how to get to the message board. Learning perl at the moment (just for fun - how sad am I - actually deep nerdy satisfaction to be had from perl but anyways) (Oh ok, not just for fun, but so I can get slashdot on my WAP fone - is that sadder (probably)).

Oh yeah, just remembered what i was really posting about - Skoda have nicked your phrase for the purpose of advertising. Theres a billboard up by the hop inn that says "Skoda - No, really".

I'm glad you're not throwing up anymore. I'll pop by before I go to London (cadets tonight). If you're in a practical, please let me know and I will pop in there. Nice.

The boys (Byrnie et al) are going into town on a end-of-term-and-finishing-project-reports celebration. I know that they would like you to attend (I can not, I have to entertain a Squadron Leader tonight. Arse.) so phone me 'ouse and let 'em know you're interested!

Graf, what about:

Jon
- Tuesday, March 07, 2000 at 07:53:23 (GMT)

It's interesting how stuff you do out of silliness can affect someone's life who you've never met - apologies in advance for the massiveness of this post.... But in disregard to all netiquette, I got this email earlier:-

Please do not take offence at my following request.
This may be the most unusual email you will ever get. I am a web designer and I had booked a domain for
a freelance graphic designer. Graf UK . The company I booked it through confimed in writing last week
and by phone today. The domain I had booked or thought I booked was www.graf.co.uk
Today my client and friend phoned up almost in tears as the domain is now registered to you. Good for
you, bad for my client and I.

I am hoping you would be willing to discuss a transfer of your domain to my client. We are both very
resourceful web and graphic designers with e-commerce and Multimedia skills. If we could bribe you with
an awsome web site and alterative domain in exchange for www.graf.co.uk
we would be most grateful.

Please call 0xxxx xxxxxx or mobile 0xxxxxxxxx and put me out of my misery.

with respect
Tom:border

Hmmm..... Dilemmas are such fun... As is bribery :) - Guilt kicking in that I don't really have a legitimate reason for wanting graf.co.uk....

John
- Friday, March 03, 2000 at 15:59:27 (GMT)

Hmm. Interesting that it doesn't work...
It's a representation of the IP address as decimal thus:
134.225.16.16 = 10000110.11100001.00010000.00010000 = 10000110111000010001000000010000 = 2262896656
This should be routed just fine through most routers...
UNLESS it can be filtered.. but I wouldn't have thought it could thinking about how it actually works... Hmm...
