Doh - i forgot to include a link to partition magic. Mind you I've just found a Free thingy that does that same thing, called Parted. It only runs under linux, but you can get a bootdisk with it on so it's not a problem. I've never used this parted thing mind you.
Graf <graf@altavista.net>

John: About your linuxy questions - you can use partition magic to repartition your hard drive. It can resize your fat-32 partitions without losing the data on it (though obviously you'll need some free space).
I like debian the bestest out of all the linux distributions, cos it has a cool package management system to download/install the things you want. For example I wanted to install the webcache "Squid" on my debian box the other day. I typed "apt-get install squid" and it downloaded and installed it for me automatically.

It looks increasingly like I might have to install Linux on my PC at home as it seems bizarrely like the only way to be able to do anything really useful with my DVB-T card. Currently the whole hard disk is formatted as one big FAT32 partition. Anyone got any suggestions on how to go about it? Which brand of Linux is more betterer etc?

So, following an investigation into a confusing entry on my most recent bank statement, it transpires I've been paying for AA membership for about four years for my satanic ex-girlfriend without realising it. More frustrating still, this was during the time of that nice big payout, for which she said she wasn't eligible because her membership had expired. I am not a happy fucking bunny. Still, could be worse.

Yep, I've got the WinTV Nova-T (which is actually a TechnoTrend DVB-T rebadged, allegedly), it's nice, but the tuner doesn't have a lot of gain or something (insert random broadcast jargon here), so you need a pretty strong aerial signal - actually that seems to be a bit of a standard problem with all TV cards. Still, in the end I did get it to work with an indoor aerial, so long as I don't move it ever.

I assume John has the WinTV Nova-T whereas I have a Win TV pvr. My one isn't particularly for DVB-t, it's just a hardware mpeg-2 encoder with an analog tuner in it. Firewire's a bit hardcore though - well done dsp :)

Wow guys I'm impressed.
My adventures into Digital came to a Firewire card
so I can grab films off my digital camcorder.
Very nice.

Oooh - I was looking at those a while ago, but I ended up getting the WinTV-PVR one instead so I can do recordings off all the DVB channels from my on-digital box, rather than just the free to air ones. Wonder if they'll crack the encryption though, now that you can presumably get the encrypted bitstream from the card you've got.

I had worried a bit for a while that Photo Studio ought to be renamed, because there were a couple of other pieces of software called the same. However, given that mine now gets number 1 (and 2) position in google, I reckon it's probably the other people that need to come up with a new name.

Gosh my post looks all lonely there - are you all asleep? Nme.com explains that previous mp3 post better than I did.
