Well, he was a heroin addict so at the very least he'll be having an unpleasant time drying out in a police cell. I got my wallet back - it was pretty dumb, we'd probably have let him go if he'd let go of my wallet. But he wouldn't let go of the wallet, so we didn't let go of him.
Graf <graf@altavista.net>
- Thu May 30 11:20:58 2002

Well done Andy - I assume you got your wallet back. I hope this sub-human is subject to the very pinacle of police brutality and dies miserably, painfully and slowly in a police cell in a pool of his own blood, vomit and excrement.
John
- Thu May 30 11:18:35 2002

Yayy someone fixed the board :) I had to add a line to my junkbuster block file - it was effort.

Someone tried to mug me last night in Reading, so watch your backs guys (if any of you still live in Reading, i've lost track). It was ok tho, we took him down :) He was only a skinny 17 year old so he didn't stand a chance against me and my mate paul. We held him till the bouncers from yates's came to help us, and they held him till the cops arrived. The police were well impressed with us, although they did hint that we were a bit stupid to take him on. But he had my wallet the bastrd.

BA wasn't available. Said something about not wanting to fly over..? So I had to enlist Sarah's help instead. Nearly got locked in my garden shed if that helps make it more A-Team-esque. At the end of the day, you have to see through it all. I have made some pretty good beer drinking platforms.... ;-)

Just update the whole page. It's totally new. The blob thingy is a cut down version of a Plastic Self-Organising Map, my PhD invention thingy. When you do a mouse over a link, it gives the network an input. The network then grows to learn your mouseover. If you go back over that link a lot, then the network will learn that link a little better while forgetting all the others. It's a bit frivolous for this application as there is no output, it just looks pretty. I might do something about getting some sort of feedback to the user. The way in which they are displayed was inspired from your doodles, Tim.

The design is totally new, so if you didn't see the blue one, it's now dead. I prefer this semi-retro one I have now.

Have a good weekend all.

Could someone else do the polygonny stuff to the main page. It would be cool but I am really busy with PhD/new version of my page. I might make one or two very minor tweaks to the main page next week. So small you'll hardly notice!
Glad you liked the header.

Use this ftp://ftp.bignosebird.com/mpths131.exe You can define polygons of any shape as links very easily in this editor!

Yeah, Popz used a really effective app to do imagemapping, I'll try and get a link to it and post it on here, and maybe and example if he has it still

I need beer, or possibly gin, or maybe wine. Come to think of it, any kind of alcohol would be welcome at this point.
John

That sounds really tricky - they aren't in nice rectangular regions... Although I'm sure in today's dizzy world of exciting technology there must be a way to do that.
John

Idea: How about putting an image map on the maison header so that if you click the people you go to their respective sections of the maison?

Simon, was just having a browse through your pictures, particularly I noticed one set which seems to contain lots of foreign looking women. Well done sir!
John
- Thu May 9 15:36:27 2002

I keep looking at it in fact, partly down to being in university today and therefore very bored. I think we have a very smart looking main page now. It's attractive, busy, and there's actually useful content on it. Marvellous.
John

Cheers John! I am a obscured but it is too late as a flattened that bit of the image, like a muppet!

MADLAB, Reading - Thu May 9 15:29:29 2002

OK Simon, 3PM at the British Museum. I'll probably head for the entrance nearest to the end of Museum Street. If we get bored, we can always sack it off and go straight to the restaruant to get loads of sake down us. Nice.
John
- Thu May 9 14:55:24 2002

Rob it looks very nice indeed. Can't really see you in it though, is that you somewhat obscured behind the ST in stuff? If that's fine with you though, I don't mind! Lovely.
John

All done! Sorted.
Rob Lang <icar@icar.co.uk>
MADLAB, Reading - Thu May 9 14:19:10 2002

John: OK, let's make it 3pm at the museum entrance then. If there's any confusion, like multiple entrances, just give me a call or text and say which one...See you then!
Simon
- Thu May 9 14:08:02 2002

Thanks for your kind words, John! I shall make you more prominant (you're sort of lost behind the text). It is in three parts so that when you resize the window it does not look too odd. Yest it does work on 800x600. It's not quite a cool, a bit squashed, but it does work ok. I shall make the adjustments and add it to the main page.
Rob Lang <icar@icar.co.uk>
MADLAB, Reading - Thu May 9 14:05:08 2002

You might want to take a look at the British Museum's Opening Times page - I think it looks like different bits are open at different times...
John
- Thu May 9 13:48:32 2002

Simon, At what point in the day are you going to the British Museum, and for how long? I don't think I've been actually, and wouldn't mind taking a look. The opening hours are 10-5:30. So for example, if you happened to be planning to do that as your last thing before dinner, say from 3:30 onwards then I could meet you at the museum beforehand and come round with you, then we could go to the restaurant afterwards. Remember the restaurant is on Museum Street, so it's very close indeed.
John
- Thu May 9 13:45:45 2002

John: As regards the restaurant, a very superficial web search makes me think that I'll probably like the food...backed up by the picture of you eating that you've just posted! Any ideas on what time you want to meet us and where?
Simon
- Thu May 9 13:29:28 2002

Also, with regards to the new logo, I can't see myself in it very well. I'd like to look bigger, more prominant, richer and more handsome. Thanks.
John

I put my pictures from Japan on the web, if anyone is interested.
John
- Thu May 9 12:39:47 2002

Rob, I like it very much it looks verrrrr nice. However, two slight concerns... (A) Why is it in three parts? (B) If someone is viewing the main page in 800x600 will it fit?(before you start to mock, I've used the maison from an I-mode phone in Japan before so small resolutions are important!) Other than that, I'm more than happy for it to replace the old logo - I assume you know what to do...

How about "Sod Off" or "I was wandering along the pavement and then these strange men came up to me and asked me to sign this card.".

On a more frivolous note, do you like this possible new header for the main page? Let me know if I am along the right lines. Cheers.

John: I think we should stick to our original Japanese plan, people seem to be keen on it and if it makes good sharing food Susanna, Marianna and I can invoke some sort of economy plan and it must be OK for vegetarians because of your good self. Yep. Let's stick to the plan to eat there at 6pm. Will Chie be attending as well?

Tomorrow, at some point, I am bound to get bored. I was wondering if anyone would mind if I made a new heading banner for the main homepage. It will be in the usual Maison Stylee but a bit new. If anyone has any problem with this, please let me know and I'll spend my time ruining someone else's webpage.

or even JapAnese food...

Simon
- Tue May 7 15:35:37 2002

Hmmm I can't remember if they do set meals as such, but okonomiyaki makes good sharing food. Hmmm but I'm increasingly thinking it might be better going somewhere else - it's a bit unconventional, and with a big group like that I really don't want to be responsible for everyone not enjoying their dinner!
John
- Tue May 7 15:24:38 2002

John: Is there any kind of set meal option where we could all chip in and share it out between us, or is it just straight forward meals for one?

John: Yes please, so long as it's not to expensive. Susanna, her friend Marianna, Darren, Popz and me and you are the known attendees so far. 7 sounds OK although it could be a little earlier as we have to get the coach back at 9pm, perhaps 6?
Simon
- Tue May 7 13:11:14 2002
