It's just an XML format for weblogs and news services. If a site has such a file updated and kept at a consistent URL, then other websites and applications can get up to date news from your site. If you have a constant connection to the net, you can get a Windows (or whatever) application to monitor for and inform you of new posts. If you go and download Feedreader, and install and run that. Then click on "New Feed", and add the temporary test URL (I'll probably change it later) for the 'maison weblog:
http://www.maison-de-stuff.net/greymatter/stuff.xml
It's not very impressive at the moment, but it could be, and for some reason I just think the concept is really cool...!
John
- Thu Jul 25 15:06:15 2002
It's an xml thingummy for summarising a site into headlines and stuff. If you ever look at slashdot, the slashboxes of other sites are done using rss. http://www.voidstar.com/rssfaq for more stuff.
