Oh yes, Civ III is a classic. And you can whoop my ass. I have not had it long, but it is infinitely superior than the other two. Diplomacy and trade and all that rocks. You've got a lot more control without worrying what improvements are going on outside city X. If anything, Civ III is the only good thing going on with me at the moment.
Rob V2.1
- Fri Aug 30 13:34:12 2002
As a longshot. Rob, do you have Civilisation III.
I remember you were a fan of one and two.
I have it, and love it, but stopped playing until I found a fansite that run a Game-of-the-month.
Its that trick you described where everyone starts from the same saved game and see how well they do concept.
Due out soon is a network play version of III and I'm hoping someone else will have it that I can whoop.
Is that you?

I'm having a similarly bad mooded day. Perhaps there's something in the water. Trivial things are getting to me. In a slight revision to my earlier pledge about getting drunk as lords, I've recalled that I'm taking antibiotics, and probably shouldn't drink too much. However, "Come into London and we'll have a quiet little drink" doesn't yield quite the same impact. Still, either way, I am probably meeting up with some friends later and you'd be very welcome to come and join us should you want to break the monotony your day currently seems to be (quite unfairly) subjecting you to.
John
- Wed Aug 28 16:46:53 2002
Apparently, there's 61,000 pubs in the UK. Even at two a day it would take a lifetime to have a drink in all of them. If you did eight or nine a day you might squeeze it in to twenty years. However, were everyone in the country to attempt this, each pub would have to accomodate a thousand people at any one point in time. This is irrelevant. However, Tom, there are plenty of pubs in London. Probably about 10,000 of them. Well, maybe somewhere in the region of 5,000 to 10,000. That's a fair few.

That's not a bad idea, Mr H. I felt like doing something a bit more swish with the ole page and that was the result. A bit trendy, a bit swish. I do understand the whole stagnant thing: perhaps it's more a state of mind rather than anything else?

However, the article is a little wrong. The reason ROGERR (Reading's Only Genuine Running Robot or whatever it stood for) doesn't work is that Jim and others from the department cut it in half and turned it into a barbeque / jacket potato oven. (The potatoes were very nice as it happens)

Apparently there are more IP addresses in MIT than in all of mainland china. If yang continues as he is doing, it won't be long before all of mainland china is banned from the message board.
