Yeah, picking just the right phone is bl@*&y hard!! I've just noticed that although the 6170 can record video it only has 2MB built-in and isn't expandable... Figures starting not to add up here... No bluetooth either.... Lox's k700i swings back in to frame again... Shame, the Nokia looks perfect for a "Chap". I think that's a new phrase dsp: "Barbie-Phone" Good one!
Nigel
Wrexham, ... - Fri Sep 30 14:55:11 2005
I remember a particularly bad period in my life where my phone broke and Clare lent me her spare one. To call it a 'barbie phone' didn't do it justice. It had a pink see-through cover and flashed when it rung like the bat phone. Quite rightly, I got oodles of shit of all my mates and co-workers.

Ah marriage. I do all the accounts and stuff, but I find I don't actually "respect" money at all. I think I'm *not* actually greedy by nature. I've got no gripe with anything Joc buys - she has a brain and uses it. The kids are well fed, there are shoes on their feet and the bills are paid. Yeah, the clippers were pretty blunt so they were struggling to get it really short. Luckily I escaped being attacked with a razor, as they were threatening earlier :) I'm quite pleased with it really - it could have been a lot worse. I'm amazed with how generous everyone has been as well, so thanks to everyone who sponsored me.

Hi All, don't usually get to post on Sundays, but am drying my hair and using Cyberdad's PC. Quite exhausting looking after granddaughter as she is teething and has become quite mummyish. Still she went to bed OK and we collapsed in a chair with a bottle of wine. Home by lunchtime on Saturday, bit of a snooze in the chair, before setting off for the Inter-Squadron swimming event - it never stops.

Evening Tom: Ay, thanks for that. You must be right! A good read. Mind you, not that my employers could possibly be called "early adopters". I think they work on the principle that any hacker worth his/her salt will be "up" on the latest technology, so instead they adopt the old stuff. It's cheap, its on service release 4510 (or any random number) and it only just works. Touch it and it crumbles - a good defence actually!

I guess it's different in private industry, but working for "Big Brother" everything here is scanned and people are regularly dragged away to explain themselves. The words MI5 and MI6 spring to mind... Most of it is automated though, so I guess it works on parsing for key-words. Certainly the amount of "denied access" screens we get is enormous. I always dread reading political decent - I'm sure someone followed me last night... :(

Interesting link, Tom! It seems to me the trouble with this idea is not the theory, but random magnetic influences. I can see the shielding necessary adding considerable bulk... However the funds for research in the mobile phone sector are probably some of the largest... One benefit... If they are using "spin" ... is that it's one step nearer to quantum electronics, which is mooted to be only a couple of years away.

What's funny about SAP is that the only thing I can think of when I see it is "Second Audio Program" (I think that's the P). It means that certain television programs are available with an audio track in a different language, usually Spanish given where I'm living.

Oh, I spoke loosely, I suppose. The larger one is a Blue Heeler/Labrador mix, a neutered male. The small one is a border collie/labrador mix female. They are unrelated. Anyway, the Belgians are a great lot, excellent beer, and, on my last trip a few years ago, I actually discovered the food was rather good there too. As it happens I will be in that area (ish) in the next few days. I am flying to Amsterdam on Wednesday, and the current plan is to get a train from there into Germany (Chie's friend is getting married in Hamburg this weekend). OK so we won't quite be passing through Belgium, but we'll be close, and we might spend an evening in Amsterdam where my utter inability to speak Flemish/Dutch/anything other than French will be highlighted somewhat. Well looking at the file you're aiming at Lox, it apprears to be a CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio) chipset. This is one of the most common bluetooth chipsets out there. So you can check www.csr.com which refers you to www.csrsupport.com ; or Belkin (I use one of their BT CSR USB adaptors). The software always seems to be the same ubiquitous BT stack (whose name now escapes me!) I'm sure other well supported makes use the CSR chipset too... :)

Guys I need your help... I have been trying to download a file off the internet, it's a Bluetooth updated driver, comes off a taiwanese server. Unfortunately the dwload stops every time half-way, I think it has to do with the fact that I have too many firewalls and FTP blocks. Can someone download it for me and the place it somewhere sensible over the net so that I can get it local? Maybe using Tim's file share application... the affress is "http://www.ccandc.com.tw/support.htm" the file is " ¡@ v1.2 - BTW-4.0.1.2101 - for BT-0330, BT-0333". I have tried to find the same updated stacks around the net, but I was terribly unsuccesfull.

So what is all this hate against the French that YOU tought me, you bastards!!! I was a law abiding person before living in England! One thing has to be said. In the last 4 years I had to travel to France a lot, especially by car, and I have found out that in France road signs are completely pointless and generally made just for the locals. One time we got lost in Paris, 5 of us, it took 1 hour to get where we wanted. Several times on the highway signs disappears. Either than that, Sauternes, Cheese, Baguettes Bohemien art, the Guillottine, Suspenders... they are all things made by French which I particularly like!

Descent looks good...but the writer also wrote Dog Soldiers, which I've heard is one of the worst movies ever. I'm willing to look past that and give it a try if I can find it. Thanks for the suggestion. Eddie Izzard may be English, but I know he was born in Yemen. And he's funny as hell.

Eddie Izzard (for those not in the know, he's an English comedian) rather bravely did a whole gig in French once, to a French audience, presumably in France. As part of it he asked the audience if they hate the English, and rather pleasingly a resounding "no" came back. Having said that, they were a group of people who had intentionally gone to watch an English comedian, so perhaps they are not entirely representative of the French population!
John

Travis - I know pretty much nothing about the horror genre, but my friend Russ seemed to think The Descent was rather good - and he is usually very critical of this sort of film. My grandmother, on the other hand, reveres the Church as an institution based on proscriptions. She’s totally impermeable to such concepts as tolerance and forgiveness.
