Wednesday in Venice
Wednesday 26th October 2016
Got the Frecciarossa 1000 to Venice in the morning, spent the afternoon on a tour of bacari.
Italy October 2016
The Piazza Castello in Turin looking very atmospheric in the morning as I headed to the station to get the train to Venice.
On the Frecciarossa 1000 now, in Executive class.
My very light breakfast on the Frecciarossa 1000. I think there's about 10 times more jam than I needed given the size of the croissant.
The carriage of the Frecciarossa 1000 Executive class.
Changing in Bologna - was a bit confused by "Kiss and Ride".
Heading over the lagoon into Venice, and it looked very atmospheric.
On arrival in Venice I headed straight to the tiny Bacareto da Lele, first stop on my Bacaro crawl.
Second stop, Osteria Codroma. Apparently Nigella Lawson likes this place.
The entrance to Da Codroma.
Next stop, Cantinone Gia Schiavi.
The exterior of Gia Schiavi.
San Trovaso over the other side of the canal.
General wandering around Venice now.
Next Bacaro, All'Arco. Very nice truffle+porcini cichetti here.
Finally figured out why All'Arco is called All'Arco.
In Cantina do Mori, normally the most picturesque interior, I only took this one picture, after asking the ownder what his favourite wine was.
A bit of bue sky finally!
In my room at the hotel Al Ponte Antico.
The view from my window, overlooking the Grand Canal.
...and to the Rialto Bridge in the other direction, covered up for repairs at the moment.
Porcini pizza at Arte dell Pizza for a late lunch / early dinner.
A wine shop selling torbolino, I brought a bottle to take back to have with Dad in Turin.
The Grand Canal, on a vaporetto.
Going past my hotel!
Over on La Giudecca now to catch a bit of the sunset, such as it was, from outside Snack Bar La Palanca.
Good old La Palanca.
Quite nice skies in places where they were able to peer through the grey clouds.
Nice shot of a speedboat.
A Spritz con Select.
On the vaporetto back to the main island now.
Heading for San Marco.
Still quite a nice sky.
The Doge's Palace in the early evening.
Final Bacaro of the day - Osteria Alla Ciurma.
The rialto bridge by night - nicely uncovered on this side.
Passing by my hotel on the vaporetto again!
A Negroni and crisps in the bar at the back of Caffe Florian.
Night time stroll back through San Marco.
