Wandering around Lisbon
Sunday 21st October 2018
First full day in Lisbon, spent it having a wander around the city.
Lisbon October 2018
The girls playing in the apartment.
The girls and their mini hatchimals.
At the playground in the park near our apartment.
Erika took this picture, and added her trademark thumb signature.
Walking down the Avenue Liberdade. This seems to be Lisbons answer to the Champs Elysees.
Pausing to take a picture of this tram.
The graffiti is a real shame though.
At Ginjinha Sem Rival for a quick midday (ish) shot of cherry brandy, as apparently the Portuguese do.
Nice hat shop.
In Praca da Figueira, a square with a nice view up to the castle.
Confeitaria Nacional, the first on my list of historic cafes I wanted to try pastel at.
The pastel (pasteis?) in the window.
The counter at Confeitaria Nacional. It seemed to take a long time to get served.
Having our coffees and pastries at Confeitaria Nacional. The coffee was not very good.
Me and Leon respectfully appreciating the historic interior.
Lisbon's famous elevator tower thing. We decided not to bother.
Now down at the Praca do Comercio, by what we kept wanting to call the sea, but is in fact the river Tagus.
The river Tagus.
They even had a beach!
The girls having a quick play on the beach.
Now heading towards lunch.
In the Time Out market for lunch. It was a bit overcrowded.
The three of us eating our not very Portuguese lunch. It was very hard work finding anything vegetarian amongst Portuguese cuisine.
My porcini and truffle pizza. It was good, but at 19 Euros it had better be!
En route to an ice cream shop, we found this interesting building where the girls posed for pictures.
I particularly like this one.
In the ice cream shop / gelateria.
They had a slide!
Leon found this rooftop bar, where we went for a late afternoon / early evening drink.
Nice spot, but our table was very unstable and it felt like the whole thing was going to fall over! A bit unnerving.
Silly self portraits.
The girls doing Chie's hair.
The sun starting to set over the Tagus.
The girls dancing.
Leon and the sunset.
Me and Chie.
Later on in the taxi I took this picture of an Aperol Spritz stand.
