Floating Chinese Restaurant

On a whim took the slightly unusual step of eating out for dinner with Erika on a weekday evening (perhaps because it was the Easter holidays), at the floating Chinese restaurant at the corner of Regents Park. As an odd aside Tony Robinson was also dining there this evening.

I was rather annoyed to find one of the neighbouring kids had kicked a football into our garden (impressive in a sense as it must have gone over a couple of other gardens first) and had broken off a branch of my apple tree. I was properly into grumpy old man territory.

I went to St James's in the morning to buy a couple of new suits, also popped into BBR in my club. Meanwhile Erika had a playdate in the morning, another in the afternoon, and also bumped into a friend at a playground on the way home. So three playdates in one day!

London Marathon and Hedge Trimming

Took Erika to see a little bit of the London Marathon (mainly viewed from the comfort of the Red Lion on Crown Passage) as a friend was running in it. In the afternoon I trimmed the hedge for the first time this year.

Actually worked from the office today. Perhaps as a result I felt quite grumpy, and left early to go to Ye Old Mitre to cheer myself up, where I was joined by a friend from work. That then led to a wee dram or three at the Whisky Society, and following a failed attempt to meet another friend in Soho I dined at San Carlo Cicchetti.

Although I am loathed to attribute any kind of merit whatsoever to the insurmountable unpleasantness of having to get on a plane, be in New York for a few days, then get on a plane again; I do have to admit a huge sense of elation at having been back home in London today.
