We got the train to Worthing, then a taxi most of the way to Cissbury Ring (that first bit makes for boring walking). Here's Erika's walking up the hill to Cissbury Ring.

12:45:23
Passing through a bit of woodland on the way up to Cissbury Ring.

12:58:02
Atop Cissbury Ring now.

13:01:29
Some wild horses / ponies atop Cissbury Ring.

13:06:30
Cissbury Ring's trig point, which came out a bit blurred.

13:14:15
We stopped on top of Cissbury Ring for a picnic, I think this is a beautiful spot with spectacular views, but I think the girls were a bit cold!

13:14:20

13:18:43
Views from Cissbury Ring.

13:18:46

13:19:37
Chanctonbury Ring in the distance - the target of today's walk.

13:20:08
A bit hard to believe it's the middle of August!

13:20:40

13:22:45
Still, there's some blue sky over in that direction.

13:23:04
I rather like this picture.

13:23:17
This is nice too.

13:23:45
Some silly pictures with me in.

13:23:48
Trying to get the girls excited about the lovely location.

13:26:07
That lone tree is very helpful for composition.

13:27:15
Heading down the hill now.

13:36:21
Looking back towards Cissbury Ring from the chalk track which led us away from it.

13:41:18
Damsons?

13:42:46
The weather did improve a bit as the walk proceeded, and once we were on the move it started to feel a bit warmer.

14:15:58
This beetle had met a rather gruesome fate on this barb wire fence.

14:17:54

14:28:04
Nearing Chanctonbury Ring now.

14:28:18

14:31:37
Chie and Erika throwing stones.

14:34:22
Here we met the South Downs way, this signposts always lift my spirits.

14:42:15
Just one more brow of a hill to get over to get to Chanctonbury Ring.

14:45:02
Chanctonbury Ring.

14:45:13

14:45:23
Chie and Erika adding some drama to the scene.

14:45:46
More drama.

14:46:13
Me and Chanctonbury Ring.

14:51:03
The views from Chanctonbury Ring.

14:51:12

14:52:24
I had walked around Chanctonbury Ring last time I passed it, so thought it might be interesting to see what the copse looked like on the inside.

14:54:14

14:56:02
The view from the other side of the copse.

14:56:19
Patchwork quilt fields below.

A grasshopper on my trousers.

15:07:22
Having a short break close to Chanctonbury Ring.

15:07:26

15:08:18
Interesting sky.

15:16:22
Heading down the hill to Washington now - this path was surprisingly slippy!

15:31:07
I thought the holes in this post looked a bit like a face.

15:32:34
Through the woods.

15:40:31
...and at the bottom out into open fields for the final stretch to Washington.

15:41:49

16:08:54
Finally at the Frankland Arms - very happy to see this pub has reopened, as it had been closed last time I passed this way.

16:20:12
Alas a bit of a flying visit as we didn't want to miss the bus to Pulborough!

18:47:43
Back in London now, and we stopped off at the new food court opposite Victoria station, which had this impressive vegetarian and vegan menu.

18:52:40
Erika pulling a funny face while we waited for our dinner.

18:54:18
Erika opted for fish and chips, Chie had a burrito.

18:54:26
The portion sizes look the wrong way round here!

19:04:04
I had a vegan Thai green curry with some vegan teriyaki "chick'n" on the side. This was pretty good.
