City of London
Sunday 16th December 2018
Went to Shikumen for lunch, then had a wander around the City of London, and went to see the Mithraeum exhibit.
London December 2018
Erika wrote this lovely note for me. To Daddy, I hope your next walk in the South Downs Way is a success. Save Savile Row from (Abercrombie and) Fitch). From Erika x

Me and Erika in Shikumen.
This mock duck in a black pepper sauce was probably the highlight of the meal.
Me and Erika eating dessert.
The view from the top floor of the hotel Shikumen is in.
Taking a wander through the City now - Erika had been learning about the London skyline at school so we thought it would be nice to see some buildings like the Gherkin up close.
...and here we have the Cheesegrater.
Some Christmas decorations.
A Christmas tree.
Looking particularly festive inside!

Chie and Erika in the Christmas arch thing.
At Mithraeum event now, where they had an activity to make wax figures, as the Romans used to do for Saturnalia.
I think that's Mithras, the god who the temple was dedicated to.
Inside the actual temple bit now. It was a bit dark at first!
Back outside again now.
Erika inspecting these giant ice blocks.
Back at home later on, some early evening ESW by candlelight in the garden.
Night Sight mode makes it look like daylight almost!
I wanted to remember the details of the bottle of Plumpton I opened this evening as it was nicer than the previous one for some reason.
