One of the buildings next to Fountain Court in Middle Temple, as I was wandering around trying to find where this supposed outdoor Champagne Bar was.

I was definitely in Fountain Court.

The only evidence of the existence of the Champagne Bar was this sign.

I did see some chairs and tables but this wasn't Fountain Court any more, and there was obviously nothing happening here.

Oh well, at least it was an excuse for a wander round Middle Temple, which is very picturesque.

On the way out of Middle Temple - I think this used to be a pub called the Devereux.

In the absence of any Middle Temple Champagne Bar Andrew and I decided as a backup plan to have a much more downmarket drink on the Tattershall Castle, the "floating pub" on the Thames.

I felt a little dissatisfied still though, so on the way back popped into the Savoy, and went to the Beaufort Bar where they had on the menu a Negroni made with 1950s ingredients.
