Chichester to Petersfield
Saturday 10th June 2023
Went for a walk in the South Downs from Chichester to Petersfield, which went a bit awry towards the end. I couldn't find a good place to camp, decided to give up and go home, but that proved to be impossible because all the trains were cancelled. So I ended up having to sleep rough after all.

The first glimpse of the South Downs from the train.

Arundel?

I neglected to take any photos for the bulk of the work! I was focusing on filming instead. However I thought this fine looking pub I stopped by at deserved a picture.

Atop Harting Down here I think.

Nice sky here I thought.

I think I was trying to get a picture of a deer.

I had been walking round for about an hour prior to this trying to find a spot to camp, but never seemed to be able to get away from other people and/or find a piece of land which was flat enough and not too overgrown. So at this point I decided to just give up and try and get back home. Which turned out to be a lot harder than I imagined.

At Petersfield, the last few trains of the night were all cancelled, and there was no room at the very limited number of hotels in town. So I had no choice put to camp after all.

I woke early to catch a bit of the sunrise.

Perhaps not the most dramatic sunrise ever but I was just pleased to have made it through the night, and that I'd be able to finally get a train home in a couple of hours!

I had planned to make this paella for last night's dinner, but I'd ended up too tired to cook. So, paella for breakfast.

What a strange end to the adventure that was!
