My 40th Birthday Party
Friday 17th March 2017
My slightly surreal 40th birthday - a sort of tweedy Mardi Gras. With an elephant. Of course.
London March 2017
Erika atop the inflatable elephant I got for my party, as a reference to the Peter Sellers film which probably nobody got.
First few guests have arrived.
Some of Erika's friends came along for the early part of the party and enjoyed playing with the elephant.
Ricardo was determined it wasn't going to be an entirely stuffy tweedy sort of evening as I had planned, so invited these Brazilian carnival dancers as a surprise. Which, among all the tweed, was quite surreal.
Limbo dancing. None of these pictures really came out very well but you get the idea.
Erika and one of the dancers.
Wanted to get a shot of me, Erika and the dancers.
The unveiling of the portrait my horrible friends had comissioned for me.
Here I am with the horrible portrait.
General incredulity at just how horrible the portrait is.
I was oddly pleased with it regardless.
