Vinegrowing Course Day 1
Monday 19th November 2018
First day of my vinegrowing course at Plumpton College
London November 2018
Reading Stephen Skelton's book on the (very early!) train down to Horsham. Interesting to read the opinion that the importance of soil type is quite possibly overblown.
On arrival in Scaynes, nearly an hour's walk from the station!
The Farmers, where the morning session of the course was held.
A quiz we had toward the end of the morning on growing conditions at various points of the year and cropoutcomes - this was surprisingly tricky!
Now out in Plumpton College's Rock Lodge Vineyard for the afternoon session.
Selfie of me and the group as we were carrying out a vineyard site suitability assessment.
The weather became a bit inclement later on!
Some grapes left behind after the harvest.
On the way back home, at Blackfriars.
