Bostal Hill to Southease
Sunday 27th October 2019
Absolutely lovely afternoon walk along the South Dow ns Way with Erika, starting at Bostal Hill and ending at Southease.
London October 2019
We got the train down to Lewes, and stopped off there to buy Erika some hiking boots.
She chose these, more like snow boots really, but I thought they'd be handy for the winter.
Erika on arrival at Bostal Hill. I had very pragmatically cheated and got a taxi to here, so we could start our walk right on the South Downs Way (and at the top of the hill!).
The South Downs Way.
I love this picture, and I hope it captures what a lovely time we were having.
Beautiful autumn skies today.
Lovely far reaching views.
Erika looking very jolly.
Oddly there was a guy on a unicycle.
The trig point.
We were also treated to a sky full of paragliders! It was quite magical walking along with them above our heads.
Some paragliders taking off and landing.
Erika with the paragliders behind her.
Cows and paragliders.
I wonder what the cows make of them.
Erika and some sheep.
Nearing the radio masts now.
A Land Rover. I think this was assisting the paragliders.
Another selfie of the two of us, hopefully showing what a lovely time we were having.
A bit of abandoned farming machinery.
Cows and the landscape.
Nearing the end of our walk, and starting to head down the hill towards Southease now.
At Southease station.
Erika at Southease.
Once back in Lewes we headed to the Lewes Arms for a late Sunday lunch.
Having a drink while we waited for our lunch.
Both Erika and I had the nut roast. Not sure Erika really likes roast meals much, but she did at least eat a fair amount of that cauliflower cheese.
I thought it was really nice and ended up eating a fair amount of Erika's too!
