Smokeless Coal Round Two
Friday 23rd October 2020
Another attempt to make a fire in the back garden with the smokeless coals this evening and more successful second time round! Used a lot more kindling and a lot more coals and eventually got a decent burn out of it. Did some fantastic baked potatoes!

I made an earlier start today, hoping I might have it going properly before it got thoroughly dark.

Definitely some coals burning there - albeit I probably didn't have enough coals in the pan for a serious fire at this stage.

So I added a few more, which set things back a bit...

Eventually though it seemed to be ready to put on some potatoes.

Nice glow here.

Also got out the billy can to cook a bit of pasta.

...and then some burgers in my new camping frying pan (I think these were Moving Mountains burgers).

18:59:55
Potatoes almost done I think. They were really good - such a different flavour cooking them this way compared to using an electric oven.

The fairy lights.

Erika came out after dinner to roast some marshmallows.

19:53:31
Tried to kick start the fire a bit as a lot of the coals round the edges seemed to remain black and seemingly unburny.

Eventually the fire went out and it looked like a lot of the coals hadn't thoroughly burnt through. I suspect a more enclosed fire pit / chiminea might help here.
