Lyme Regis and Charmouth
Sunday 6th May 2018
Lunch in Lyme Regis then went to the beach for a Spot of fossil hunting in charmouth later in the afternoon. Later on dinner back at the gatehouse.
The gatehouse in the morning.
Erika at the door of the gatehouse.
On the beach at Lyme Regis.
Erika dipping her toes in the sea.
Lunch at a place on the seafront.
Erika with this terrifying bright blue bubblegum flavour ice cream.
Erika and ice creams. The mint choc chip was good, but neither Chie nor I can quite understand the appeal of bubblegum flavour.
The ice cream shop.
On the steps.
The seafront at Lyme Regis.
The Natural History Museum had set up a temporary exhibition in Lyme Regis which we came to have a look at.
Erika sifting for fossils.
Erika picking out fossils.
Look actual shark's teeth!
Another stall at the Natural History Museum exhibition.
The shark teeth Erika sifted out.
Erika getting ready to go on the beach at Charmouth.
Chie and Erika on the beach at Charmouth.
Erika splashing about in the waves.
We seemed to spend so much of this weekend stuck in the car, I wish we could have spent more of it on the beach as Erika clearly loved it!
Meanwhile Chie had been fossil hunting.
An ammonite Chie found in the clay.
Erika looking around in the rocks.
Erika back in the sea again.
Sun glistening on the sea.
Erika fell asleep in the car on the way back to the gatehouse.
The stairwell at the gatehouse. Nice light here.
We decided to have pre-dinner drinks and nibbles out on the lawn, and Chie and Erika also did some drawing.
I like this shot of the girls, taken by me from the kitchen window.
The butler (i.e. me) arrived with the tray of pre-dinner drinks and nibbles.
Cheers again to the gatehouse.
Chie getting arty.
The gnats or midges or mayflys or whatever they were did get a bit annoying after a while though.
Erika decided to come back inside while I was cooking dinner and Chie did some more drawing outside. She made some interesting structures with some wooden blocks we found in the cupboard.
I love how you can see Erika's toes here.
The finger in shot which is often the telltale sign Erika is taking the pictures.
Slightly Stone Henge inspired here perhaps? We had driven past it on the way down.
Chie and Erika at dinner.
Erika having a pre bedtime yoghurt.
A bit of a sunset again.
Erika pretending to be a dog.
Good night Shute! I fell asleep getting Erika to sleep which explains why there are no futher pictures after this.
