South Downs July 2018
Friday 27th and Saturday 28th July 2018
Two days in the South Downs. First day spent walking along the South Downs Way from Eastbourne to Southease, spent the night in Lewes, then the second day visited the idyllic Breaky Bottom vineyard.

Eastbourne to Lewes
Friday 27th July 2018
Took an early train from London to Eastbourne, then set out on the South Downs Way bound for Lewes. Stopped for lunch in Alfriston, then in the afternoon followed the South Downs Way as far as Southease and decided to call it a day there and get the train into Lewes. Has a very pleasant evening in Lewes, hampered only slightly by very sore feet, and watched some morris dancing outside the Lewes Arms.
Breaky Bottom
Saturday 28th July 2018
Had a very disappointing breakfast at my hotel, which I'd come to the conclusion was overally really quite naff. Went and had an alternative breakfast at a coffee shop in Lewes which was much better, then a bit of shopping before meeting friends from London at Lewes station, from where we all headed down to Southease together. From Southease station we walked to the Abergavenny Arms in Rodmell for lunch, before heading over to nearby Breaky Bottom vineyard for a heavenly few hours spent doing a tour and tasting, and chatting to the very charming and fascinating owner, Peter Hall. Somewhat reluctantly headed back to London again in the evening.
