Chew Magna and Stanton Drew
Thursday 14th April 2022
We had decided to break up our journey on the way down to Devon, and stay a night near Bristol, as there were a couple of things we wanted to see in the area. I found a hotel in Congresbury which had something for all of us: a pool for the girls, a hill fort immediately behind it for me. Then in the evening we went to the Lazy Lobster in Chew Magna, a seafood restaurant Chie had heard about, followed by a visit to the Stanton Drew stone circles.
Bridge Inn and Holcombe
Friday 15th April 2022
After breakfast at our hotel in Congresbury, we motored down the M5 towards the Exeter area (stopping off in Taunton for a spot of shopping en route) in time for lunch at the Bridge Inn in Topsham. Then we called in at Dad's for an afternoon tea of home made saffron buns, before heading on to Holcombe, the other side of Dawlish, to check into our little cottage which would be home for the next two nights.
Dartmoor and Teignmouth
Saturday 16th April 2022
Spent the early afternoon on Dartmoor: lunch at the Warren House Inn, then a walk around Grimspound. Back to the coast for the evening, and Dad joined us on a walk from Holcome along the seafront to Teignmouth, with the traditional dinner there of fish and chips on the beach.
Pennywell, Easter Lunch, Then Back to London
Sunday 17th April 2022
Erika had found a brochure for a farm where you can feed and cuddle baby animals, so we went there this morning, before heading to Dad's for a greak themed Easter lunch, then the long drive back to London.
