To The Wye Valley
Friday 22nd July 2022
Drove to the Wye Valley in the daytime, and after a quick stop at the local village shop checked into our home for the weekend - Monk's Hall in Brockweir.
Wye Valley July 2022
Crossing the old Severn Bridge.
We arrived in the Wye Valley slightly too early to check into our cottage, so we first went to visit the Brockweir and Hewelsfield Village Shop and Cafe.
Our afternoon tea at the cafe (they were closing early for a private event so could only offer takeaway containers).
Thistles in the shop/cafe garden.
Our cottage for the weekend: Monks Hall in Brockweir.
Ye Olde Wifi.
The lounge from the other angle.
The main bedroom.
The garden, and one side of the house.
Chie and Erika on the steps.
We decided to go for a little walk before dinner. Here's Brockweir Bridge.
Brockweir Bridge at a slightly longer distance.
More of the Wye Valley.
The three of us (I think I'm eating something) and Brockweir Bridge in the background.
Erika on a hay bale.
We found this spot where we could get down to the water, albeit quite muddy.
Chie and Erika more or less standing in the Wye.
Video of the girls on the river.
Video of the Wye.
A scorpion fly apparently.
Heading back to the house.
We decided to make pizza (almost) from scratch this evening. I was a bit worried it was going awry while it was baking, but the end result wasn't bad.
Close up on one of the pizzas.
The kitchen table in a nice light after dinner.
Erika being very helpful and washing up.
Later on I headed down to the river once again.
I had picked up some of the (very) local wine in the village shop earlier, and decided this would be a good spot to have some.
The vineyard is about a mile away.
I found a little bench overlooking the river.
Back at the house now.
