You are ENTIRELY right.... You are an old git!
Posted 15:12, Friday 28 April 06.

I asked my brother to have a look at my blog. This is his "feedback":

Listen… I believe I became an old git and belong to another generation.
Your website looks good, but I dont understand the use or the need you have to flaunt yourself in public.
I say "flaunt yourself" because you share your feelings, your ideas, your states of mind... with the public at large.
If the purpose is to keep contact with your friends, then I would honestly prefer to call or chat directly on the net, or preferably see them if the distance permits it.
Let's say I would be much more interested to hear about your family than read your comments about your neighbours, Bacchus or French charcuterie.
In short, I didn't know what was a blog and, in my opinion, it is tantamount to listening to bar-room talks or street gossips that are far from constructive.
I'm sorry and I must surely disappoint you a lot, but that's what I think,
Cedric, "le vieux con" (the old git).

And here was my reply:
You are ENTIRELY right........................ You are an old git!

I don't know about you, guys, but I personaly think that this blog thing is on the contrary VERY constructive. It enables me to exchange ideas with people from different backgrounds and cultures. I believe it is an optimal instrument to broaden one's mind and forge new bonds of friendship.
I've never met anyone of you in the flesh, but it doesn't prevent me from claiming with confidence that, at this stage, we became friends. At least, on my part.

Sheri: Good points, well made! It is true that this form of "community blogging" as opposed to the run-of-the-mill "solo-blogging" is far superior as you're among friends and acquaintances rather than strangers.

(Should I copyright that phrase, do you think? :)

Comment 2:
No copyright, Nigel. Everything that is written down belongs to the community. It's a communist blog! (instead of bloc, arf arf arf!)

Behind the Ironic Curtain, eh?! :))

Well... we could call it "CommBlog". Solo Blogging is sooo "yesterday"!!

Well I agree with you Sheri, I personally don't care if people read about my experiences and feelings, I might be the steretype italian with the heart in his sleeves, but I like it. Plus I have the secret idea that someone might eevn find my experiences interesting!! :)

As for broadening experiences and points of view I completely agree there as well, without la maison I wouldn't be able to keep in touch with dear friends that unfortunately I cannot see anymore in flesh, plus meeting new ones like you or Nigel or Travis that I have never met in person (when the fist Maison re-union by the way?)

Lox. The rallying point would have to be in a pub, for sure!

Nigel. How about the "Internationale" for an anthem?

Comment 6:
And Lox, are you referring to a certain fan of yours who answers by the name of Caroline...?

Comment 7:
Another thing that is good about the Maison is that all of us are real people! (Well, I was last time I looked!!) Other types of blog seem to consist of people with strange pseudonyms, living in a fantasy land... I'm very happy to be a part!! :)

I'm happy that you are, nigel!
