Cyberdunk.com Basketball MMORPG

Posted on 2007/07/01 05:08:15 (July 2007).

I have discovered a very cool Massive Multiple Player Online RPG. This is no ordinary RPG, mind you. It's a basketball RPG. And it's fairly addictive.

I've discovered a new site, Cyberdunk.com, which provides what seems to be the next stage in advancement from board games and combining also the notion of fantasy sports. In brief, you create a basketball player, complete with height, weight, stats, and position, and then rank your draft preferences. If you would like to play in the US, put them as your top selection, and rate a ridiculous number of leagues ranging all over the globe. It is more or less turn-based, but it does not require daily logins, much less frequent activity on a daily basis.

I have created Fenzolea Rodgers, a PG who was drafted by Talad Ulan-Ude in the Russian Premiere League. I think our team will struggle, as we only have eight players, but I'll keep updating about this character on occasion because it's a lot of fun (and I can earn points for my character by posting articles).

Fenzolea's stats:
Floor Shooting: 14
Inside Shooting: 17
3PT Shooting: 20
Dribbling: 20
Passing: 20
Stealing: 20
Rebounding: 14
Blocking: 14

Strength: 16
Speed: 21
Jumping: 16

Confidence: 15
Stamina: 14

I patterned Fenzolea as a pass-first PG who has slick handles and can knock down the open three. I want him to be a true floor general. While I'm not sure what a good stat is, 20 seems decent. Talad signed me to a contract that pays $301 per day. With the money you receive, you can purchase upgrades in equipment and training.

I am currently training my 3PT shooting and have purchased two items. My Firebear Cup shoes add 2 to my dribbling (22 Dribbling) and my Grandma's Favorite accessory adds +5 to Blocking (19), Stamina (19), and Confidence (20). I needed to do that because I found I was tiring quickly in game situations.

After two games, my stats stand at:
29.0 Minutes (per game)
12/22 FGs
0/1 3PT
1/2 FT
12.5 Points
2.0 Steals
1.0 Turnovers
0.5 Blocks
6.0 Assists
4.0 Rebounds

That's how I roll. Future options include buying a team and managing it. It's something I'm looking forward to doing, but it could take a lot of time to build up the necessary points.

Comment 2

Lox: It's free. I don't know of a soccer one, but I wouldn't be surprised if it exists.

Excellent! Rank Russia as your top league? I'm trying to save up to buy a team that I could then control.

Lox: I'm still in Russia. I'm doing reasonably well, but my team sucks. My name is Fenzolea Rodgers. What's yours? When this season is over, we should make every effort to get onto the same team.
