Took Chie and Erika down to the South Downs for a walk centred around Lewes, as a sort of continuation of my walk last month while they were in Japan.
London August 2018
So many pockets in this backpack - I found £20 stuffed in one.
Breakfast on the train on the way down to Lewes.
We got the rail replacement bus from Lewes to Southease and started our walk from there.
The South Downs Way heading out of Southease.
The fields near Rodmell.
The farmer seemed to be growing courgettes - or marrows perhaps.
Heading up the hill above the farm at (I think) Cricketing Bottom.
Atop Mill Hill.
The "To The Pub" here must refer to the Abergavenny Arms at Rodmell.
We found some cows.
Little calves as well!
Looks like a cow had lost its ear tag. Also some poo here.
Erika having snacks along the way.
Erika with the view behind her.
The three of us obscuring the view.
It looks much greener now than when I was here in July in the middle of the heatwave.
I like this picture of Chie and Erika and the view - I think it's nicely framed.
Interesting light here.
Clouds look like candy floss.
Here we left the South Downs Way and started our descent towards Kingston near Lewes.
Down the hill to Kingston near Lewes.
Chie and Erika picking blackberries. I think this was a highlight of the walk for Erika!
At the Juggs in Kingston near Lewes now.
Inside the pub.
Chie and Erika with our lunch.
After lunch we followed the old Juggs Road from Kingston into Lewes.
This went past a windmill.
Nice sky here.
I thought this bit of the walk might be a bit boring after being up on the hills but actually there were still nice views to be had.
Erika with the windmill in the background.
More of the views along the Juggs Road.
Unfortunately my finger got in the way here!
