Wessex Ridgeway - Westbury to Tisbury - Day Two
Sunday 1st August 2021
Day two of my walk from Westbury to Tisbury.
London August 2021
Of course I didn't really sleep very well, so not long after it started to get light enough to see where I was going, I packed up and started walking again.
The track in the early morning light.
Me out on the trail in the early morning, temporarily wearing my super lightweight insulated jacket as it was a bit chilly to begin with.
Piles of timber by the track side.
The moon still visible.
Heading down the hill.
Passed this converted barn.
Crossed over the A303 here.
Followed this rather overgrown path along a field edge.
Looking back to where I had come from this morning so far.
Seems to be getting misty over there now.
However the skies were clearing in the direction I was headed.
Scabious, my old friend.
I had a lovely surprise a little further on, this very grand gate, part of the Fonthill Estate.
I was very glad I took this detour as this was a lovely spot to walk through.
Me and the gate.
Through the other side of the gate.
Really lovely landscape alongside Fonthill Lake, a great place to be at this hour of the morning.
Very grand trees in the grounds of the Fonthill Estate.
More views of Fonthill Lake.
Looks like some sort of event was taking place across the lake.
A large wedding perhaps?
Swans on the lake.
Fonthill Lake, looking rather majestic I thought.
Hydropower at Fonthill.
A very overgrown path along side a field of corn, on the final stretch of today's walk between Fonthill and Tisbury.
The road leading to Tisbury.
Quite happy to arrive at Tisbury, once again my feet had got wet in the dew and were a little sore by this point.
The station at Tisbury.
The river near the station - I'd popped back into the town centre to pick up some breakfast.
On the train from Tisbury back to London.
