Olivo
Wednesday 24th August 2022
Found myself hankering for a pizza at Oliveto this evening, so later on got the tube down to Victoria, but alas no room at the inn, so went to Olivo instead.

More candy floss clouds this evening.

Poked my nose in at the Pineapple briefly, and spotted a Brompton - took this photo for Andrew who is a big fan of them. He owns 6.

The sky looking rather nice near Kentish Town station as well.

Camped outside Olivo after disappointment trying to get a table at Oliveto.

If I'm really honest I didn't hugely enjoy the food this evening - I had my heart set on a gutsy pizza at Oliveto, and by contrast the dishes at Olivo all seemed a bit dainty and bitsy. My starter was quite pleasant - a sort of salad of chargrilled courgettes with slices of ricotta and some hints of truffle, but it was over in a few mouthfuls.

Similarly the culurgiones, which I have enoyed in the past (and Erika was a bit fan of), seemed a bit insubstantial this evening. I was glad of the bread basket.

The current wine of the month at Olivo, which I had with dinner.

An after dinner mirto...

...and then we got chatting about how the bar attached to one of the other Olivo restaurants used to make a Sardinian twist on a Negroni, so they tried to recreate that for me. Rather generously of them, this was on the house, so I feel a bit mean now for quibbling about the portion sizes earlier.
