Early Morning Walk Along The Wansdyke
Monday 29th August 2022
Up at first light and walked (most of) the remainder of the Wansdyke Path, before heading off to Bishops Cannings to get a bus to Swindon, then from there a train home to London.

First light.

Eating a rudimentary breakfast (some sort of flapjack) before finishing packing up and heading on my way.

On my way now.

There was some really nice walking along these further reaches of the Wansdyke Path. The path mostly follows the embankment of the Wansdyke, which gentle undulates and gives nice views over the surrounding landscape.

06:17:59
I think this is around the official moment of sunrise.

06:22:04
Glimpse of the sun over there.

06:22:07
Yep the sun has definitely risen.

06:23:46
This is looking backwards, I was walking mainly west at this point.

Lovely skies overhead on my walk this morning.

I think there's a long barrow in the field over there.

I parted ways with the Wansdyke here, to head down to Bishops Cannings where I'd be catching a bus.

08:17:32
The church in Bishops Cannings. I had a good hour or so to wait for the first bus of the day, so I sat for a while in the churchyard to pass the time.

09:30:16
On the bus now, as it passes through Avebury on the way to Swindon.

09:30:20
Almost tempted to get off here and spend a couple of hours in Avebury... but I was a bit tired, and keen to get home.

09:30:22
Still, lovely to see Avebury again, even if only a fleeting glimpse from a passing bus.

11:22:42
Back in London now. I think this was only my second time to use the new Elizabeth Line?
