Jubilee Thursday
Thursday 2nd June 2022
First day of the long weekend of jubilee celebrations. For lunch today we went down to Hyde Park to meet some Japanese friends and watch some of the flyover.

On the tube on the way down to Hyde Park.

My newest suit - not sure there have been many photos of it yet? It's flannel, so designed for the warmer months, apparently.

12:00:06
I brought along the last of the Forty Hall 2018, which somehow seemed appropriately London-y (but to be honest stocks of ESW are very low in my cellar at the moment and I didn't have much to choose from!).

Some of our group milling about trying to spot planes etc flying overhead.d

13:00:37
There follows a series of not very successful attempts to take photos and/or videos of various aircraft flying overhead.

Given all the cynicism from many English people I'd spoken to about the jubilee celebrations, it was nice to see this care free enjoyment of it from our Japanese friends.

Erika looking particularly stylish today I thought.

I went for a bit of a wander to Knightsbridge and saw this rather grand looking car passing. Presumably a member of the extended royal family but I couldn't work out who.

Later on, Erika and I popped to the Pineapple for a bit. As fond as I am of my local, this part of the city seems to attract the kind of people who absolutely weren't going to be waving flags and decorating their homes with bunting. So a bit of a jarring contrast with the earlier part of the afternoon.
