Sunday 05 March

A girly chat in a cafe in Shinjuku station with Chie and her friend Kanako.

Sunday 05 March
16:02
Kanako and Chie, in a cafe in Shinjuku station, where we went for a girly chat on Sunday afternoon.

Me, having enjoying a nice cup of tea, and some pear tart.

Monday 06 March

A couple of random pictures taken at home.

Monday 06 March
21:15
Chie's shoes - I'd been nagging her to throw these away for ages, and finally she caved in, but not without a photo!

Monday 06 March
20:24
The Asahi robot - I really want one of these, but unfortunately the chances so not look promising. You need to drink 36 cans of Asahi (OK, so far so good) and collect the stickers - but that just gets you an entry into the competition. From then on it is a lottery.

Friday 10 March

Out for okonomiyaki with some people from work.

Friday 10 March
20:30
My colleague here is from Osaka - famous for okonomiyaki - and thus it seemed only right that he took control of the okonomiyaki-ing for this half of the table.

Friday 10 March
20:30
A couple of the guys over from the US.

Friday 10 March
20:31
Chie and another one of my colleagues.

Mid flip!

Friday 10 March
21:30
Later on, despite us all being full, a round of yaki udon arrived...

Saturday 18 March (afternoon)

My lovely new whisky barrel.

Saturday 18 March
15:39
One of the best birthday presents I have ever had arrived today. Chie had got me half a whisky barrel (from Yamazaki distillery) to use as a planter for the little trees on our balcony.

Saturday 18 March
15:39
It actually smells of whisky, and I absolutely love it.

Saturday 18 March (evening)

Out for kushiage with Lorenzo and Marta, who were both in Tokyo on business.

Saturday 18 March
20:26
Lorenzo and Marta in the Kushiage (fried things on a stick) place. Note the stylish aprons!

Saturday 18 March
20:26
Lorenzo taking a picture of some kushiage in its raw form.

Saturday 18 March
21:06
Here's Lorenzo admiring the deep fat fryet and the finished product.

Saturday 18 March
21:06
...boy this was greasy!

Sunday 19 March

A day wandering around Shinjuku with Lorenzo.

Sunday 19 March
10:43
I took this picture so Lorenzo could scoff at the stupidly named Italian restaurants but then forgot to show him.

Sunday 19 March
11:25
So Lorenzo and I met up on Sunday, and kicked off the day with a spot of brunch at Afternoon Tea.

Sunday 19 March
12:46
We then spent a while wandering around Shinjukugyoen, here we are inside the greenhouse...

Sunday 19 March
12:54
....and outside again. The grass isn't looking particularly green is it?

Sunday 19 March
12:59
I'm not sure if this was actually cherry blossom already - it could have been, as it definitely seemed to attract a lot of attention from the Japanese.

Sunday 19 March
12:59
Lorenzo and the (maybe) cherry blossom.

Sunday 19 March
13:00
Erm, trying to do something arty here. I think I failed.

Sunday 19 March
13:07
One of the lakes in the park.

Sunday 19 March

The Taiwanese (?) style tea house, which I rather like.
