Lox, Lorenzo... ME!!
A little introduction about the author and the blog itself. Plus contacts and CVs... You never know!

Pictures
A Selection of the best pictures that I have taken all over the world during the years, all nicely indexed by year and geographical area. Jolly good!

History of this Blog
A collection of all the articles that I have wrote so far, divided by month/year.

I have had the bad idea of writing my e-mail address on the board before, so this time I'll try to prevent some spam to get to me by putting this little image.. Let's hope it does the trick!

Feels like a long time

Posted on 2006/11/16 13:18:57 (November 2006).

[16th November 2006]

It feels like it has been ages since I last wrote an entry. It is more or less two weeks, and since I started frequenting "la Maison" it has been the longest time that I have seen part of it completely down.

Fortunately John managed to sort it out, re-wrote a nice piece of software that avoid all the server related problems, and our blogs are going to be fine.
Great stuff John!!

These two weeks have been quite full in terms of happenings. Let's try to make a list...

Marta
After we met on the 2nd we didn't speak to each other. The situation was ok at first but it quickly degenerated, at least as far as I am concerned.
I really miss her a lot.
This week she was supposed to go away on business to Sweden, she sent me a strange message on the mobile, asking for something that I could not possibly have... Well, it was the excuse to start writing to each other, so at least there is a contact. I am still quite scared at trying to call her directly though... I will be leaving next week, for three weeks in Japan, so I will not be able to see her until Christmas, assuming that she wants to meet anyways...

House
The house is a major disappointment and source of stress. The people who were meant to remove the furniture came, but in that very day the door of the fridge fell on me when I was near it!!! The landlady was there, so she saw it all, and even if they are going to change the fridge, the technicians will not arrive until next Tuesday.
There is still so much to do, cables to be passed from a side to another, a new piece of furniture that needs to be bolted and made safe, basic cleaning is badly needed and I must also connect the washing machine to the sink as the tubes that were there are all moldy and broken... There is still a good month's work to do, but I am leaving soon so I will have to do everything during Christmas...

Friends
There was a nasty situation that has been cleared, it all happened to be fault of one person who tried to manipulate the people in the group to get them to accept his times without having to ask for it.
Generally speaking I am extremely tired every night, so there is very little that I want to do at night except sleeping. In the weekend at least I manage to see some people, it's very important to unplug for a couple of days..

Work
This is a real though one, I have to make all the presentations and fortunately I now have my table and space to work. There are many things that we need to discuss in Japan, mostly because we need to fine tune the type of presentation that we want to make. It is going to take a good year before I will have this situation under control, but it's quite stressful as I don't have the faintest clue if what I am doing is good or not... :( Let's hope that things will be clearer in the future...

Ah I see - you posted the bulk of this in the extended entry part originally... Now you're going to ask me if it is possible to delete an entry...

Well, no!

Probably the easiest thing to do is go back and edit this and write about something else instead...

Then you're going to ask me if you can delete this comment.

Well.... no!

By the way, the fact that you used the extended entry wasn't the cause of the most recent problem - it was broken XSLT files (probably my fault).

Not a good time all round at the moment, Lox... I really hope your Japanese employers appreciate all your skills and hard work - especially as it is being done under the most stressful of circumstances (not their problem I know, but still...)

As for the house... Not a happy start!! Remember that Tom Hanks film "The Money Pit"? It seems the same the world over. You have my sympathies!

Nigel: Well I got a phone call from Marta, and we decided to see each other this weekend again. Not sure what we'll solve by that but I wanted to see her quite a lot before leaving for Japan. As for the work related problems we have to see how things develop in Japan, I still haven't signed the proper contract and this time I want to fly back with some paper in my hands!

I hope you and Marta have a good weekend. Lots of communicating, talk it out and see what waits for you both in this next chapter of your lives.

All the best to you both!
