I have had the bad idea of writing my e-mail address on the board before, so this time I'll try to prevent some spam to get to me by putting this little image.. Let's hope it does the trick!

Fracesco's Wedding

Posted on 2007/04/01 20:52:00 (April 2007).

[31th March 2007]

And so it was the DAY. My best friend Francesco getting married with Elisa, after a long story together they decided to go for the big step together!

Where do I begin?

I have met Francesco roughly nineteen years ago, on a hot summer day to play role playing games in preparation of a Dungeons and Dragons tournament that we decided to join for the first time in our life.

Since then a lot of time has passed.

Today I woke up quite early, being the best man means a little more responsibility than the usual guest at a wedding ceremony.

Around mid-day we set off to go to near Pisa where the first act of the ceremony had to take place.
Fortunately we managed to arrive largely ahead of time, and by 15:30 as planned the mass begun with all the guests at their places and the usual fundamentalist priest that started rambling about politics, history and (oh yes) also marriage and love in the Christian Church.

Francesco was looking strangely good, slim and most incredibly SHAVED!!
Elisa was simply breathtaking, brides are normally quite good looking, but she was really, totally, down right GORGEOUS.

The mass continued and it was time to exchange promises and rings which involved in a way my presence as the "Ring Bearer"...

I had to walk up to the altar to give Francesco the ring, not the rings mind you, because the other one was given by the other best man to Elisa, his wife.
During that brief exchange I started telling Francesco the words of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings in black tongue:

"Ash nazg durbatulūk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulūk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul" (One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them)

to which he replied finishing the rhyme (and I handed him the ring). I knew he would have done that, I hope he appreciated this little "improvised" bit!

Unfortunately the side effect of "breaking the altar" did not occur, but I guess it's ok... (the usual anti-Christian old me!)

For a second I even thought to play the usual trick "oh shit I lost the ring", but it would have probably caused immense commotion and probably some fainting too...

The usual throwing of rice is somewhat re-designed by our group of friends, and the newly wedded where targeted by several type of pasta shapes ranging from dried tortellini to lasagne...

We then moved to a different location for some pictures.

That was the time when I understood really that he had gone a new and exciting path, quite different from the one that we all walked together for a long time.
On the other side it was good to see the people that I shared so many moments together reunited again, the five kids that were rolling dice hacking monsters and dreaming of fabulous stories...
Two of them have now been taken by beautiful women, so that leaves only three of us still single!

The dinner party was quite "normal" featuring the usual rounds of toasts to the newly wedded couple, throwing of bread balls and other objects between tables, jokes, music and all that stuff.
Just a day to be happy and celebrate the moment.

The food was not so nice, that is the only downside of the whole night, but then again at wedding parties is not so easy to find great food because they have to cater for a lot of people and there were more or less a hundred of us at the table.

There is a moment of total tragedy that happened, which is when Francesco and Elisa stepped up to the microphone to sing "A whole new World"(in italian) taken form Disney's Alladin... I say this because Francesco is so incredibly out of tune that he almost seemed that he was doing it on purpose!!!

Anyways the night proceeded into the early hours of the 1st of April, more or less around 1:30 we decided to call it a night and go back... Pictures will tell the rest, but it was a memorable party, and once more, from the heart,

FRANCESCO and ELISA

Good luck, be happy and have the greatest life that you can possibly get!
